Granny Gets the Point (1971)

As part of the extensive advertising campaign to familiarise people with the new decimal currency many short information films were created. This particular example features members of the Collins family dealing with the changeover. For the young son, Peter, the adjustment is straightforward however for Granny (Doris Hare of On the Buses) the transition is much harder and prompts anxiety. Using a sitcom style that 70s viewers would have been familiar with, the film gives an interesting, if somewhat exaggerated, overview of different experiences of the new money.
